Summary:

Responsibilities include providing relevant, accurate and prompt competitor and market analysis to aid in better decision-making and profitability.

Also responsible for budgeting and forecasting support, products movement analysis, adhoc research and analysis of business and customer trends, and assisting in customer interactions, tariff support and regulatory requirements.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for researching market conditions or industry changes that may impact revenue.

  • Design research projects to address specific business questions.

  • Conduct market research to analyze competitors, evaluate market penetration and understand customer needs.

  • Analyze marketing metrics to identify cause-effect relationships between marketing actions and financial outcomes.

  • Complete and maintain competitive analysis to quantify competitive position.

  • Provide budgeting and forecasting process support by consulting and coordinating with Marketing and Business Development staff to develop data and variance analysis.

  • Perform products movement analysis and reporting to include pipeline utilization, tank utilization, product outages, and other trend activity.

  • Establish key performance indicators by asset.

  • Assist in the development of potential pipeline tariff or pricing structure changes and strategies.

  • Responsible for collecting and analyzing data to evaluate existing and potential product and service markets.

  • Responsible for: writing comprehensive, periodic, summaries of market data, which analyzes market fundamentals, technical indicators and consultant outlooks.

  • Research and build in a timely manner analytical models, summary tables and/or graphs for a given request.

  • Publish a monthly activity report outlining specific activities performed throughout the month. 


Requirements:

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing or equivalent experience preferred.  MBA recommended or equivalent amount of industry experience.

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience required.  Energy industry experience preferred.

  • Superior working knowledge of Microsoft related products such as Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook.  Strong computer skills, including business intelligence and reporting software such as Tableau and Synthesis.

  • Ability to develop strong relationships, both internal and external. 

  • Effective time management, organizational, and leadership skills.

  • The candidate should have a good understanding of economics, business fundamentals, and corporate business profitability; excellent interpersonal skills required as this position may interact with all levels of the organization; excellent research and reasoning capabilities required in order to effectively pull together large amounts of diverse, complex information into concise, understandable market positions and points of view.

  • The candidate will also need to be extremely detail oriented, self-motivated, proficient, methodical and pro-active in problem solving; organized with vast amounts of market information, and works well under changing priorities and timelines; and mathematical modeling knowledge and diagnostic capabilities required.

  • The candidate needs to have strong written and verbal skills in order to write reports and develop visual models and diagrams for senior management and the corporate organization on a routine basis.

  • Knowledge of marketing, sales, business processes and project management

  • Strong business writing and reporting skills.

     

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  1. Usually, normal office working conditions.

  2. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.

  3. Occasional overnight travel may be required.

  4. Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings which may include hazardous materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
