Mechanical Engineer
Capabilities:
- Working knowledge and experience of pump selection and operation including horizontal pumps, vertical pumps, and ‘can’ pumps, both centrifugal and positive displacement (PD) type.
- Working knowledge and experience with compressor selection (including reciprocating, centrifugal, and screw-type) and operation.
- Working knowledge and experience in the selection and application of gas and liquid pipeline valves (gate/ball valve, check valve, control valve, relief valve, actuators, etc.)
- Working knowledge and experience with vibration analysis, hydraulics, and surge analysis and pipe stress analysis
- Experience with industry standards 49 CFR Parts 192 and 195, ASME B31.3, B31.4, and B31.8, all applicable API standards, OSHA, and welding codes and standards.
- Ability to calculate minimum pipe wall thickness and pipe grade requirements, calculate internal design pressure, size pipe, calculate external loading, and size relief valves.
- Knowledge of other engineering disciplines (i.e., foundation design, electric motors & motor control, metering, building design, heat exchangers, separators and other associated equipment for pump and compressor station installations, conceptual engineering and design systems associated with compressor and pump facilities)
Minimum Requirements:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering required
- 3-15 yrs. applicable experience in pipeline industry
- Title conferred will be based on candidates’ years of relevant experience.
- Direct experience working for a third-party engineering firm is highly preferred.
- Possess strong communication skills to support the building of relationships with project managers, sponsors and other internal project stakeholders
- Experienced in project detailed engineering scope definition, cost estimating, and scheduling
- Self-starter able to work with minimal supervision
- Strong problem-solving skills, including logical thought processes, with ability to resolve a complexity of issues. Has ability to be proactive rather than reactive.
- Fast paced environment – must be able to support multiple projects concurrently
- Good comfort level presenting information to all levels of management
- Ability to read, comprehend and comment on technical specifications
- Proficient with applicable technical software including Pipeline Toolbox, Navisworks, ProMax, BlueBeam (or equivalent), etc.
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Word, Excel, Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.

- Normal office working conditions.
- Occasional overnight travel and site visits may be required.
