Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Permitting and Environmental Manager to support the Lake Charles LNG (LCLNG) Project (the Project), reporting to the Project Director. This role involves coordinating and managing all aspects of environmental permitting and compliance, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, including those set by FERC, PHMSA, and USACE. The successful candidate will play a critical role in safeguarding local natural resources, minimizing the project's environmental footprint, and ensuring that all environmental commitments are met. This position requires a proactive leader with a strong background in environmental management and a proven track record in managing large-scale infrastructure projects. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinate and manage all permit specialists.
- Ensure compliance with all permits, including those from FERC, PHMSA, USACE, and other local jurisdictions.
- Ensure all regulatory submissions are delivered in a timely manner to the required agencies.
- Manage the FERC and PHMSA process throughout the execution of the Project
- Collaborate with the EPC contractor to ensure FERC conditions are met
- Manage all associated permitting risks.
- Ensure the EPC Contractor’s Environmental Management Plan complies with all permits.
- Monitor EPC contractors’ environmental performance.
- Implement measures for environmental safeguarding and management.
- Oversee environmental monitoring programs.
- Ensure environmental reporting commitments are achieved.
Required Skills
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.
- 8+ year of experience
- Extensive experience in environmental compliance and permitting, particularly with FERC, PHMSA, and USACE.
- Experience in managing LNG projects or similar large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and coordinate across various regulatory bodies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Professional certification such as Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) or similar is preferred.
- Experience of complex negotiation and multidiscipline issue resolution
- Familiarity with construction and operations contractual terms and intent.
- Problem solving with ability to recognize issues and deal with them directly.
- Personable, positive and enthusiastic attitude with capability to deal effectively with people.
- Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and written.
- Excellent organization skills and work ethic.
- Sense of initiative with desire to become truly involved in the business.
- Flexibility with ability to work in a team setting supporting several people.
- Ability to handle complex and highly confidential matters in a mature, professional manner.
- Ability to excel in a variety of environments while interacting with a variety of counterparts from diverse backgrounds, including, when needed, at the Project Site.
- Excellent interpersonal and management skills with the ability to professionally manage a team of relevant subject matter experts and consultant professionals.
