Energy Transfer LP (NYSE: ET) owns and operates one of the largest and most diversified portfolios of energy assets in the United States, with a strategic footprint in all of the major domestic production basins. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Assists with research for and preparation of responses to inquiries from federal and state taxation authorities.
  • Researches, documents, and resolves technical and complex tax return and accounting issues, consulting with other team members as necessary.
  • Assists with preparation of audit readiness file for transactions with significant tax impact.
  • Prioritizes and manages multiple assignments of varying sizes and complexity within given timeframe and budget.
  • Develops an understanding of business structures and tax effects.
  • Prepares wire and/or check requests for payment of taxes and codes payments to the correct general ledger accounts.
  • Works on special projects as needed.
Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
 
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related degree.
  • CPA certification preferred.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • 5+ years of experience in multi-state corporate income compliance preferably in the same or similar industry.
  • Excellent tax research skills using various tax services and sources such as RIA, BNA, etc.
  • Strong organizational, time management, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Adherence to high moral, ethical, and personal values in decisions, communications, actions, and when dealing with others.
  • Tax controversy or tax planning experience preferred.
Software Knowledge:
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word required.
  • Knowledge of corporate and/or partnership tax preparation software packages (OneSource IT, OneSource IT Express, GoRs, etc.) preferred.
  • Experience with SAP desirable.
Working Conditions:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
 
  1. Usually, normal office working conditions.
  2. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  3. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  4. Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
